First run

The first time Tori opens with no space set up yet, it shows a short intro followed by setup. You can replay the intro later from Settings.

The intro

Eight slides, one idea each: every agent session in one window, a workspace organized the way your disk already is, one branch checked out across several repos at once, your agents and hosts on your own machine, undoing any turn an agent took, reviewing what it wrote, handing a queue to Autopilot, and your sessions on your phone. Back and Next move through them; the last slide’s button reads Set up Tori.

Setup

Six steps. A rail on the side tracks progress and lets you go back, but not skip ahead past where you have reached.

1. Agents

Tori probes your PATH for the agent CLIs it knows how to drive. Sign in from here if one needs it: sign-in opens your browser with a code to paste. This step is not required. If nothing is found, you can continue anyway and add one later from Settings > Agents.

2. Base folder

Pick the folder that holds your projects, the macOS folder picker. This is required, it is the last step before Tori can open. If git is not installed, this step offers to install it (Command Line Tools or Homebrew, depending on what is already on your machine).

3. Space

Pick an existing space or create a new one. Tori opens on whichever space you choose here. Required.

4. Git hosts

Sign in to GitHub or GitLab. Pushes, fetches and pull requests you make through Tori go out as this account, and it is what lets the next step clone a private repository over HTTPS. Skippable, you can add a host later from Settings > Integrations.

5. First project

Three ways to start:

• an empty folder,
• clone a repository from its URL, or
• a bare repository with worktrees: one bare repo, with each branch you work on checked out as its own sibling folder. This is the layout to pick if you plan to run several agents on different branches of the same repo at once.

Skippable, add a project from the sidebar later. Cloning or setting up worktrees both need git.

6. Ready

A summary of what got set up: how many agents were found, your base folder, your space, whether a git host is signed in, and whether a project was created. Everything here can be changed later in Settings. Click Open Tori to finish.
