Files and the explorer

Browse, create, rename, move and delete files in the Files panel, run the project's scripts, read a file's outline, and collect its TODOs.

The Files panel is the right panel’s file explorer for the branch, worktree or Topic you have selected.

The header

The first line names the branch, with:

Button What it does
New File, New Folder Creates one at the top of the tree, or in the selected folder
Refresh Reads the tree again
Collapse Folders Closes every open folder
Views and More Actions Shows or hides Scripts, Outline and TODOs, and Reveal Active File in the tree

Under it, Filter files narrows the tree as you type. Inside a Topic, member chips pick which repository the tree shows.

The tree

  • Files git ignores are shown, dimmed, so you can still reach a .env.
  • A chain of folders that each hold one folder is drawn as one row, src/utils/helpers, while Compact single-child folders is on (the default). Ignored folders are left as they are.
  • Single-click a file to open it in a preview tab, which the next click replaces. Double-click to keep it.
  • The tree follows the file in front of you; Reveal Active File scrolls to it if it does not.

Drag and drop

  • Drag a file onto a pane to open it there.
  • Drag it into a chat’s composer to mention it, or onto a terminal to type its path.
  • Drag a file or folder onto another folder in the tree to move it there.
  • Drag files in from Finder onto a folder to copy them into the project.

Right-click a file or folder

Item What it does
New File, New Folder Inside this folder
Open to the Side Opens it in the other pane
Reveal in Finder Shows it in Finder
Open in Integrated Terminal A shell tab in this folder
Find in Folder… A project search scoped to this folder
Cut, Copy, Paste Moves or copies files within the project
Duplicate A copy beside the original
Copy Path, Copy Relative Path Copies the path
File History, Local History See File and local history
Share with other worktrees… An untracked file at the top of a worktree. See Shared in worktrees
Rename Renames it in place. A toast offers Undo
Delete Moves it to the Trash, after asking. Nothing is removed for good

Select several rows with Cmd+click and the menu acts on all of them. Right-click the empty space under the tree for the project folder’s own menu: new file and folder, paste, copy path, reveal in Finder and open a terminal.

Renaming or moving a file keeps its local history, and open tabs follow it.

Scripts

The Scripts tab under the tree lists what the project can run: the scripts in the root package.json, then each workspace package’s, then Makefile targets and justfile recipes.

  • Click a script, or Run, to run it in a terminal tab.
  • A running script is marked. Clicking it, or Show terminal, brings its tab forward; Run again starts it fresh.
  • Open package.json (or Makefile, justfile) opens the file at that script.
  • Cmd+Shift+B runs the last script again, in a new tab.
  • While the project’s run command is running, Run command sits at the top with the command beside it. Click it, or Show log, to read its output; Stop stops it.
  • With dev server links on, each server listening from the worktree sits at the top as localhost:5173. Click to open it, or right-click for Open in browser and Copy URL.
  • For an app whose browser picks could carry their file and line but do not yet, Browser file and line sits under its package.json, saying which config file the line goes in. Click it, or Copy plugin setup, to copy the install command and the line; Open and the config file’s name opens it. It is gone once code-inspector-plugin is in that package.json, and never shows for Svelte. Tori writes nothing for you.

With nothing to run it says No scripts here. Tori reads package.json, Makefile and justfile.

Outline

The Outline tab lists the symbols of the file in front of you, classes, functions, methods and so on, as a tree from the language server. Click one to jump to it. A file with no language server says No symbols in this file.

TODOs

The TODOs tab finds every TODO, FIXME, HACK and XXX comment across the project in one pass, grouped by file. Click one to open the file at that line.

  • Filter to one tag with Show only TODO (and so on).
  • Send to agent puts the line and “Fix this TODO” with its text into the selected session’s composer, for you to send.

The tags are set per workspace in Settings > Editor > TODO tags, a comma-separated list matched case-sensitively, so the word “todo” in prose is not caught.

Problems

The Problems panel, its own icon in the right panel, lists every error, warning and hint from the language servers and linters for the open files, worst file first, each with the tool that reported it. Click one to jump to it. Send to agent hands the problem, and any fixes the language server offers, to the selected session. With nothing wrong it says No problems in the open files.

Calls

The Calls panel is a call hierarchy for the function under the caret: who calls it, and what it calls, expanding one level at a time. A recursive call is marked cycle. It needs a language server that supports call hierarchies.
